Structure monitoring is performed with instruments that measure:

  • Stress in containment building using sensors embedded in the concrete slab, wall and dome
  • Structure movement using settlement gauges embedded in the concrete slab
  • Containment building temperature using sensors such as embeddable thermocouples
  • Vertical deviation and displacement of the inner containment building using pendulums
  • Horizontal displacement of the walls using invar-wire convergence meter
  • Stress in prestressing cables using load cells

  • Vibrating wire sensors in dampened or sustained excitation mode
  • Electrical sensors including resistive, inductive, potentiometric, magnetoresistive types and linear variable differential transformer (LVDT)
