For the coating process, drying is as important as coating. The migration phenomenon that part of color ingredients is transferred during drying considerably affects the quality of coated paper. In general, the paper, once finished with coating, enters the drying process. Drying on the coater, different from that on the papermaking machine, mostly involves heated air blowing, because if any paper with wet coat contacts the cylinder dryer, the paper sticks to the cylinder, causing troubles. To solve this problem, the paper is dried with a cylinder dryer after infrared drying or hot air
drying. This machine is designed to reproduce the conditions of a practical blade coater as faithfully as possible, in order to make coated papers of the same quality as those available in the market. Immediately after the specimen is color-coated with the KRK high speed coater or flexible blade coater, the coated surface is uniformly applied with hot air for rapid drying. This dryer can be also used for drying the surface of a specimen coated, using a coating rod or applicator bar.
